Hi there! My name is Lydia Calahan and running is part of my lifestyle. I ran cross-country all through my middle and high school years. Once I graduated college, got married and had kids, I would run every once in a while in community 5K and 10K fun runs. In 2011, I started working as a coordinator of an after school program. I hired teachers and started a running club for our at-risk students and fell in love with running again. We ran in community fun runs throughout the school year and I run with them. Running with our students has reminded me how much I miss and love running. I then started running on my own and would register for races once a month. I went from running 5Ks, 10Ks, 15Ks, half-marathon and finally full marathons. Since then I have ran 17 full marathons including big U.S. cities like Dallas, San Francisco, Boston 2x, New York 3x, Chicago Marathon 2015 and got a new PR of 3:24:09 which qualifies me for New York Marathon 2016, Washington D.C. and ran my first ultra marathon in my hometown. The Cowtown Ultra Marathon which was a one and done bucket list kind of thing. I hope to run other big cities in the U.S. and eventually run some out of the country. I am self taught and know that if you train hard and are dedicated, you can accomplish your goals. Yes, I’m a running junky and I love my addiction!
You are totally AWESOME and inspiring!! What great accomplishments.
Thank you Mrs. Dotson. I do it for my boys and try and be a good role model for our students in school too.
